My life in China

转眼,来自丹麦的Clemens和来自意大利的Chiara已经在中国度过了半年时光。这半年他们过得怎样,小编带你一起走近看看吧。

Now Chiara and I(Clemens) have already spent almost 5 months here in China. We have experienced so many different things, and we have learned so much. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms and been nothing but kind. We have a great school, great families and a very nice life here.

My Family

As I said, my family is so nice, and they are taking very good care of me. I have a mother, father and brother, who is the same age as me. My brother goes to the same school as me. We live in an apartment close to the school.

My family have been so kind to take me on many trips. We have visited some big cities like Changsha or Hefei, but we have also visited some smaller and very old Chinese cities. It is always really fun to be on trips with them. We get to try lots of new and interesting foods, and we always see some really cool old Chinese temples and other things like that. All in all, I get very well along with my family, and I like to think they get very well along with me too.

Chiara’s Family

I had a good time with my family. They took me for trips, or we went to the cinema together. Though my host siblings are smaller than me, we get along well. They help me whenever I found something weird or I don’t know how to act and I offer to help them with their English homework. On Christmas Eve, they even decorated the house and celebrate Christmas for me, even if it is not a thing in Chinese culture. I shared a little of my own culture cooking the Christmas dinner. I wish they would like it.

AFS

We are with the exchange student organization called AFS, and that is also really great. AFS helps me and Chiara a lot. They also arranged a big cultural trip to Yunan, and that was super fun. It lasted for a week and we were over 100 students on the trip, I think so at least. So, AFS arrange lots of fun activities for us here in China, and they have made 2018 a lot more fun.

Our school

We go to Maanshan number 2 high school and it is really great. We have normal Chinese classes until lunch. After lunch Chiara and I have private classes arranged by the school. It is honestly just great with these classes, they are so helpful, and the teachers are very nice. Monday, Tuesday and Friday we have Chinese classes. It is very much needed I must say, I am not very skilled in terms of Chinese language yet. Wednesday we have go-game class, which is really fun too. Then we have art class on Thursday.

Our school also have different activities for the students. Of course, there are the school clubs, which all the grade 1-2 students can join. During the first month in the school. The student counsel arranged a tour around the school for all the first-year students. Since it is a really big beautiful school, it is a really good idea. We had already had 2 tours of the school, but we think all the students really liked it.

But I do think the biggest school activity I have been a part of, is properly the school’s annual sports-meeting. It was a whole weekend in the spirit of sports. There was a half day just with dancing. There was a lot of running as well. I actually took part in some of the running competitions myself. Furthermore, there were also many other athletics competitions and I really liked them.

Expectations

These almost 6 months of 2018 here in China has been great. We have had so much fun here, and we have learned so much. We also hope our family and classmates are as glad for having us, as we are for being here. So, right now we hope and wish for our family and classmates.
