  Hello, teachers（everyone）！My name is Geng Shijing. It’s my great honour to stand on this stage and give a speech to you. Today，my topic  is about friendship. Friendship is not only a noun，but a permanent subject to us.

  When we talk about friends，we always feel warm and hopeful. I hold the belief that friendship is necessary in our lives，it plays a significant role . What is a friend？A friend indeed  is a person who feels happy for our pleasure，feels upset when we are in trouble.

  Without a friend，we would fail to do many things. Each friend in our daily life concerns us very much. When in trouble，we are always given helping hands. Actually，they do help us a lot. However, as a matter of the fact，a few of us have ignored some of their help. Maybe，someone hasn’t realized how important their friends are around them，they may suffer from the coming difficulties ，learning a lesson, and then get to know the precious friendship. So，cherish our friends， they may be the ones who help us most.

  Without a friend ， we would  live a lonely  life. Friends are also the people who can listen to our feelings and know us most. When something bad is coming, a true friend will encourage us , showing his support. No matter what troubles us，we face them together. Many hands make light work. So,cherish our friends, they are the ones who keep us warm from loneliness.

Hello everyone! It’s my great honour to be here to give you a speech about a great womam. She makes huge contribution to me and I hope that I can be a people like her.Yes! Her name is—Audrey Hepburn.

  Audrey Hepburn was born on May 4th,1929 in Belgium. She loved ballet and her favourite colour was white.

  Why do people think highly of Audrey Hepburn? I think mostly because she was a great beauty, a great actress and also a great humanitarian.

  First, let us go through her star journey. In 1953, Audrey Hepburn played a role as Princess Ann in Roman Holiday and soon became famous in the US.I think most of you must have seen the film. It turned out to be a smashing success when she won an Oscar as Best Actress. And later she took part in many other films, such as War and Peace, the Nun’s Story, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and so on. All these films gained her enormous popularity.

  However, Audrey Hepburn was more charming than her films and it was she who can withstand the test of time more than any films. Here are some beauty tips of Audrey Hepburn, which were said by herself:

1st For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others.

2nd For beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness.

3rd For poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

As we all know Audrey Hepburn put her attention on charity in her old age and appealed for donation for the starving children of the third world until the end of her life. So, she said“ Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find them at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.”

  Finally I want to use the following sentences to conclude my speech.

She is synonymous with elegance.

She is a women with exquisite combination of angels.

She is a holy and beautiful scale.

We are attracted to both men and women for her.

Hello everyone!

I’m Cui Kexin from class 3.Today I would like to talk about how to be successful.

When it comes to success, you may think of Kobe Bryant or Taylor Swift, you may be reminded of Hu Ge or Li Na. They shine, like diamonds. Sometimes, when you see these stars on the screen, you have a dream to be one of them.

But, can you be rich or successful without any hard work?Could it be said that your ticket to success is through rapping or basketball or being a reality TV star?Chances are ,you are going to be any of those things.

The truth is, being successful is hard. You won't love every subject that you study. You won't click with every teacher that you have. Not every homework assignment will seem completely relevant to your life right at this minute. And you won't necessarily succeed at everything the first time you try. 

That's okay. Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who've had the most failures. J.K. Rowling's -- who wrote Harry Potter -- her first Harry Potter book was rejected 12 times before it was finally published. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team. He lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots during his career. But he once said, "I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that's why I succeed." 

These people succeeded because they understood that you can't let your failures define you -- you have to let your failures teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently the next time. So if you get into trouble, that doesn't mean you're a troublemaker, it means you need to try harder to act right. If you get a bad grade, that doesn't mean you're stupid, it just means you need to spend more time studying.

Now you see how to be successful. You need not only a dream, but also a teacher called failure. And moreover,to quote from Thomas Edison, if you wish to succeed, you should use persistence as you good friend, experience as your reference, prudence as your brother and hope as your sentry.

I wish everyone can find the way to be successful. Let’s go out and make the world better!

Focus on what we are supposed to do

Hello everyone! My name is TaoMin .I am glad to have a chance to take part in this English speech competition .Today my topic is focus on what you should.

Let’s listen to a story first. One night, I was busy with my homework, suddenly a weird question occurred to me –“Who built the world? “I thought for a long time and couldn’t get the answer. Finally my friend worked me out, she asked: “have you finished your homework?”  

Like me, sometimes, when we are doing something important, we are easy to be attracted by other things and can’t do our own work well.

Then how about others?

Einstein once concentrated on study so that he didn’t be aware of the earthquake until he was saved by his students.

A famous math teacher was thinking a difficulty while walking on the road. Suddenly he ran into something, he apologized for several times but found it was just a tree.  It’s a little fun, right? But we should learn from his spirit of focus.   

Thus I summed a truth: Everytime we should ask our mind: “What should I do truly?” instead or fantasy. Then we are supposed to stick to it.

Finally I hope that every teenager will always ask himself: “Have you finished your homework?

We Are the World, We Are the Future

Someone said “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. I don’t know who wrote these words, but I’ve always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it to be. We are all in the position of the farmers. If we plant a good seed, we reap a good harvest. If we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.

We are young. “How to spend the youth?” It is a meaningful question. To answer it, first I have to ask “what do you understand by the word youth?” Youth is not a time of life, it’s a state of mind. It’s not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips or supple knees. It’s the matter of the will. It’s the freshness of the deep spring of life.

A poet said “To see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour. Several days ago, I had a chance to listen to a lecture. I learnt a lot there. I’d like to share it with all of you. Let’s show our right palms. We can see three lines that show how our love. career and life is. I have a short line of life. What about yours? I wondered whether we could see our future in this way. Well, let’s make a fist. Where is our future? Where is our love, career, and life? Tell me. Yeah, it is in our hands. It is held in ourselves.

We all want the future to be better than the past. But the future can go better itself. Don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened. From the past, we’ve learnt that the life is tough, but we are tougher. We’ve learnt that we can’t choose how we feel, but we can choose what about it. Failure doesn’t mean you don’t have it, it does mean you should do it in a different way. Failure doesn’t mean you should give up, it does mean you must try harder.

As what I said at the beginning, “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. The past has gone. Nothing we do will

l change it. But the future is in front of us. Believe that what we give to the world, the world will give to us. And from today on, let’s be the owners of ourselves, and speak out “We are the world, we are the future.”

                               The plays and I

Good morning, judges and students. My name is Guo Benyuan, and I’m from Class 6 Grade 1.now I’m going to tell you something about plays.

The plays that I’m talking about is not playing games but a kind of drama which mainly uses dialogue and monologue to perform the characters and act out the stories. It originated in early twentieth century. Although the chief part of a play is the dialogue of characters, music and dance can be also added to it. In this sense, the play is a comprehensive art.

When I was in primary school, I loved watching dramas. I even acted some parts in some dramas which came from articles of Chinese books.

In Grade 6, my friends and I acted an essay and that was a great success. Three years later, I stepped into the No.2 senior high school, the best high school in Maanshan, and joined the drama club at once. In May this year, I acted the first long play in my life as a leading role. Today, I am the new chairman of the drama club. From these facts, you can judge that I like plays very much. You may want to know why I love plays.

In my opinion, plays are just like novels with ups and downs.

When I am acting, I am just a character in the story. Therefore, I can perceive the real feeling of that character by myself, and do what the character can do, which makes me feel excited. From acting, I can earn more amazing experiences, and become anyone I want. I can go to a totally different world, and travel freely in the story. Freedom and experiences that is what I earn form plays. Now I’m going to recite a poem for you. It’s called when you are old form John Keats.

Our  Dream

Good afternoon teachers and my friends

I am glad to stand here and give you a short speech. To begin with, i want to pop a question: Did everybody dream a good dream last night ? Actually , today i want to talk about dream with you .Of course ,what i want to talk is not a dream you had last night ,but a dream about life.

Everyone has their own dreams, and we need dreams to support us. With the dream, we have a direction, with a direction, we are no longer confused!

When i was a little girl, my teacher asked us what we would want to do in the future. Most of us answered like superman, spider-man, batman, transformers and so on. because we wanted to be a hero to save the world .Maybe we had not known how many difficulties we would face before our dream came true. But the dreams are like small seeds planted in our hearts, like the beacons in the sea that lead us to our destinations. Now, we grow up and become realistic. I have a dream, i hope i can become a lawyer,so that i can bring people fairness and happiness, and i will donate some money to help others to realize the value of my life.

Life is tough, there are always ups and downs, maybe we fail on the way to our aims and we may feel depressed. Whenever we want to give up. The dream in our heart can always comfort us, encourage us and support us to move ahead.

Dream is the fountain of strength. Dream is the support of faith. Dream is the Polaris. Dream remind us to move forward, to struggle, to strive all the time. One of my friends told me that dream will never discard anyone. Yes, maybe one day everything is gone, but dream is still there with you, eternally.

Finally, i want to quote a word form Woodrow Wilson ,28th president of the US:  We grow great by dreams, all big man are dreamers. so, stick to your dream and have enough courage and determination to overcome all the difficulties. I firmly believe one sentence that :if you think you can, of course you can. Just believe we can make it! Keep on walking towards our dream. Flying youth, master our future. From today, from now on, ask yourself: Are you ready?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I feel great honored to have this opportunity to stand here making my speech.

Just as the saying goes,’ Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery. But today is a gift and that is why we call it present. ’During my next two minutes, I shall give a speech on the mystery—future.

Personally speaking, I used to feel confused about my future. As is often the case among young teenagers, I seldom tried new things or took the challenge in my life for fear of making mistakes .However, thanks to my teacher and my friends, it is them who told me that in my future, no matter how many mistakes I made, how slow or small my progress was, I would be better than the ones who had never tried to go beyond themselves. After hearing their words, I made up my mind. And that is why I am here to make my first English speaking.

Now, as for me, future means hope and enthusiasm, but at the same time, very strict—for it requires a lot. Since we all want the future to be better than the present, we really need to cherish our time and never let it pass by. What is more, we should make good use of every effort. Well, let ’s put it in this way. It is like we are all in the position of farmers. If we plant good seeds and work hard, we will surely reap a good harvest. But if we just sit there doing nothing, we will finally receive nothing at all.

No pain, no gain. Joining me in being brave and making our future brighter and better!

Sincere greetings to all the audience in front of me. I come from class 10 and now, welcome to my show. Today the topic of my speech is about self-confidence.

Let me ask one question above all, what does self-confidence mean indeed?  Yeah, it might mean a lot, in a word, it means accepting one’s grace. We all are created so beautifully, but we haven’t realized it because we are influenced by others. Do you ever feel confused why you look not as pretty as others? Or feel defeated because you do father down than you were expected to in a competition?

So, I will tell you a story about a boy called Ezra Frech, who was born with one leg shorter than the other and only one finger on his left hand. Doctors amputated the shorter leg and took a toe from the amputated foot to replace one of his missing fingers. He uses a prosthetic leg which must be replaced periodically as he grows. However, this doesn’t prevent him from being an extremely well rounded student-athlete. Ezra is blue belt in karate, the quarterback for his school’s flag football team and a basketball star who led his team to an undefeated record. At 9 years old, this sports wiz already has a public speaking career, and he’s been on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

A disabled boy can do this, why cannot you?

Whenever we are in a situation of listening praise we tried to change the topic or start praising ourselves. This is wrong because this is the biggest sigh of inferiority complex. Now find it and work on it to overcome it. Don’t be afraid of rejection and move forward as you can’t change anyone’s view. Presenting your real self is a sign of confidence. If you are listening to your heart, then you are gaining confidence.

Stay Hungry Stay Foolish

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Today, the topic of my speech is “Stay hungry, stay foolish.”

In 2005 , Steve Jobs ended his lecture in Stanford with this sentence——“stay hungry stay foolish.” For a long time, I couldn’t understand what it meant. Hungry? Foolish? Did Steve Jobs want to encourage us to be a fat stupid man who lies in his couch and eat all day long? Absolutely not. As I grow up, I know more about the meanings behind this sentence. And that’s what I want to share with you today.

What is “hungry”?

Look back to the human history, those who had great achievements always had a same characteristic——They were never satisfied with the existing success. Try to imagine, if Thomas Edison is satisfied with the inventing of the phonograph, we may can not use the electric light when sun goes down. If Ma Yun is satisfied with the success of Alibaba, then there would be no Taobao , no Alipay, and we may cannot buy things on the internet so conveniently. And for Steve Jobs, from iPod, iPad, to iPhone 1~4, he was just like a hungry beast who would never be satisfied. That is the true meaning of “hungry”——hungry for success. Why those people could go so far and climb so tall? Because they had no tops or ends of their dreams. So, just stay hungry and keep going on! Remember, the higher you climb, the better views you’ll see.

And what is “foolish”

The people who start their business new can often hear a sound like that: “You gotta be a fool to believe that will work!” However, those who succeeded finally were those who believed in themselves. Dear friends, do you have the experience of learning to ride a bicycle? If do, how long did it take? For me, it was in a summer when I owned my first bicycle. I was so excited that I couldn’t wait to start riding. But the point is，if I had known that I would break my legs and my arms in the next few hours, I would never give it a try. But I was foolish to what will happen to me, so I fell down, and tried again, and fell down again. And the result is, I learned to ride in only one afternoon. My favorite actress Natalie Portman once said “Your inexperience is an asset, and will allow you to think in original and unconventional ways.” Dear friends, foolishness is a kind of wisdom. It makes you more confident and be oblivious to your own limitations.

As a result, stay hungry, stay foolish. Keep this in mind and let your heart burn again. The future is so bright and colorful with all those surprises just in front of you.

Discover yourself

Today I'm going to talk about discover yourself.

Ever since the accelerated development of human civilization, perpetual scientific discoveries of nature had accompanied mankind all along the journey. It was by discovering the world around us that human beings have been able to lead a more sophisticated life.

　　However, as G.K. Chesterton once said ,“One may understand the cosmos, but never the ego, the self is more distant than any star.

When I was twelve, I thought the coolest job in the entire universe was to be a surgeon. I spent hours and hours watching the drama Grey's Anatomy and couldn't help falling in love with the kind of life those doctors lead on the screen. I was utterly mesmerized by the scalpel and all those fancy medical terms they use.

However, I stopped dreaming about being a surgeon when I discovered that it was the idea of being a surgeon that appeal to me, not what it truly was.

I subsequently realized that growing up is a process of discovering ourselves. We get to know what we truly are and become who we dream to be. As we shape ourselves and as we shape our lives. We gradually become more aware of our limits and potentials, and consequently learn to adjust to what's out there, and by that ladies and gentlemen I'm proud to say that I have discovered part of myself, sue to discovering today and definitely a lot more in the future.

Speech on Happiness

Good afternoon, everyone. I’m Wang Zhuoqing from Class 13. Today I’m here to have a talk to you about happiness.

Before we start, I want to ask you a question: what do you think happiness is? Happiness, for some is fame, for some is love, for some is money, for some is health. So, is happiness something we don’t have? How can we be happy if to be happy we need something we don’t have? Since there will always be something we don’t have in the world.

I come to realize people are happy not because they have all they want, but because they are passionate about something and that puts their mind into a state of happiness. They are happy because they do something they love. They are happy because they are doing something they believe.

Most of you may have seen ballet dancers dancing. It was incredible: the dancers were gracious and everything looked like it was easy, natural, heavenly beautiful, perfect. After the show, you could see those bleeding feet coming out of the ballerina shoes and these dancers were limping. But their faces were radiant. They have just danced and the audience loved it. They were really happy.

Be happy even in the most tough and miserable moments of life. Why? Because we just know that there is no perfection also not in happiness. And the pursuit of it involved risks, pain, rejections, sweat and tears. So, why don’t we look around everyday and find reasons to be happy in so many little things?

                              Dreaming

  Where is my future hiding? What will my life be like in twenty years? Maybe you will say “ Who knows？”, but from my point of view, your dream will point out the way for you .Stick to your dream, and your life will become what you want it to be.

   I think dream is probably the most important thing in our life. It’s just like a lamp guiding you in darkness and helping you overcome any difficulties,otherwise you will lose your way easily and hesitate to go ahead. I do know there are always ups and downs in our life, but our dream can always comfort us, encourage us and support us to hang on and keep going. I firmly believe that no one can stand in my way, just because it only belongs to me. Nothing can prevent my dream from flying with freedom, nor can anyone prevent me from achieving my goals.

When we are dying, we lie on the bed, looking back on our past life, will we feel regretful or sorry just because we were not hard-working enough and we wasted our life ?Do you want to be like this ? If not, take action at once! Don’t make up reasons and excuses for your laziness. Dream high, making our life better. Dream high, making our future brighter. Dream high, the sky will not be so far! Everybody, tell yourself once a day .I have a dream, and I finally I will make it with my lifelong efforts!

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen,

  What I am going to talk about today is friendship.

  A few days ago, I received a birthday gift from my friend Smile, who is a korean.

  She and I were deskmates once and we spent three years together in junior high school. I taught her how to speak Chinese and she taught me how to smile. She managed to cheer me up when I was in hot waters. She could double my joys when I got high grades. She offered me sincere advice when I was lost. She is my true friend.

  No man can spend most of his life without the help of his true friends. True friends are those people who have good character, great ability and kind hearts. But they are not god, they make mistakes sometimes. We should learn to forgive them and try to help them as much as possible.

  Friendship is one of the greatest treasures in the world. We should keep the sacred friendship burning all our life.

Dreams not Dying, Keep on Fighting

Hi, ladies and gentleman. I am glad to be here, and today I want to talk to you about dreams.

It is lucky for me to have been admitted into the NO.2 Senior High School. It had become a dream of mine when I was a little girl. Now I have realized it. However, to me, the new life is not as great as I dreamt. I have experienced loss, grief and failure. I even don’t know what I was supposed to do at the beginning of my senior high life.

It was my father who helped me and inspired me. He encouraged me and never twisted my arm. He told me: ”Don’t give up finding your passion and don’t give up keeping on with your dreams. Don’t be afraid of your life. And then go for it!”

So I decided to find myself a new dream. Like most of the children, I used to dream to be a sentist, to be an astronaunt, to be a teacher, to be a lawyer or even to be a hero. But now, I find my real dream. I want to be a psychologist.

With the rapid development of our society, nowadays, many people have some kinds of psychiatric disorder. It will make a bad influence on their lives. But most people are not aware of the harm, so they never care about the problem.

I was lucky, because when I was confused, I have got my father to encourage me. So I want to help those who are helpless to get out of the shadow and face their lives bravely. And I will hang on.

Keep your dreams. No matter what, you’re your dreams .Don’t give up on them, even when you are temporarily defeated or denied. Keep your dreams!

Doing the best at this moment puts in the best place for the next moment! Wish you all could find your dreams and finally be successful!

Good afternoon everyone! It is really my honour to stand here and share my opinion with you. Today I would like to talk something about insisting on everything you want to do. During our lifetime, we will meet all kinds of hardships. When it comes to the difficulties , some people say, “Never give up.”

One reason is that if we give up easily, we will achieve nothing. It is usual for us to fail in our first attempt at something new, so we should not feel discouraged. Besides, if we always give up when fail happens, we will can not develop new skills. we should never give up because when we work to reach our goals, we develop confidence, and this confidence can help us succeed in other areas of our lives.

  Probably the greatest example of persistence is Abraham Lincoln. Born into poverty, Lincoln was faced with defeat throughout his life. He lost eight elections, twice failed in business and suffered a nervous breakdown. He could have quit many times ，but he didn't quit and because of this, he became one of the greatest presidents in the history of America.

  Lincoln was a champion For the reason that ---he, never gave up.

  In short, no matter you succeed or not, you can learn something, no matter what we learn will help us to become more confident. If we give up, we have no chance to make our dreams come true, if we keep trying, there is always a chance, that we will be seccessful one day. I believe that nothing is difficult if you put your heart into it. Nothing is easy if you don’t try your best.

Brilliant Youth                     

Honorable judges, distinguished guests , boys and girls , good afternoon ! I feel really honored to stand here and make a speech . Today I'd like to talk something about youth.

What is youth? A well-known writer once said ,’  Youth is not a time of life ,  it is a state of mind ; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees , it is a matter of the will  , a quality of the imagination  , a vigor of the emotions  . There is a sentence in the movie < You Are the Apple of My Eye > , ‘ Youth is just a heavy rain , which someone still  wishes to experience again --- even though he had caught a cold for it ‘. I think youth is the most lovely flower in the world which deserves every beautiful sentence to describe it. During this period of life. we are crazy  or clinging , we sink or go forward . Whatever we do, we feel freshly about things around us . Our hearts are always filled with courage and confidence to face unpredictable future .    

Last year , I entered this great school . Teachers and students here see her as a second home,and call it ‘Damaer’ warmly. That is a kind of youth. Because the name shows our optimistic and enthusiastic attitude towards life . In Damaer, we communicate with teachers to gain knowledge. We meet and stay together with our friends and enjoy the best time of our lives. All these would be in the night sky of our memories shining brilliant like stars. We would be dare to try anything and win every war. When we are going to die, we would shout to the world , ‘ I am proud ! I don’t regret ! Because I have a wonderful youth! ‘

Finally , I want to give a word to everybody ,‘ Wind blows, ripple circles , they are drawing flower-like ages ; Rain drops , green shows, they are dancing for the pure youth! ‘

A tree toad loved a she-toad who lived up in a tree. He was a two-toed tree toad but a three-toed toad was she. The two-toed tree toad tried to win the three-toed she-toad's heart, for the two-toed tree toad loved the ground that the three-toed tree toad trod. But the two-toed tree toad tried in vain. He couldn't please her whim. From her tree toad bower with her three-toed power the she-toad vetoed him.

Good evening,everyone.It is my honour to stand here to give a speech to you。Today I will talk something about dream with you. Dream is the beacon. It guides us forward.If dreams die,Life would be a broken-winged bird that can never fly.

Dream is important to everyone.Everyone has his dream.So am I,but dreams are always changing as your thought goes forward.When i was a child.I had a naive dream.I hoped i would have many pretty dresses and much ice cream to eat.I think every little girl ever thought of it.Step by step,i started to study.I had a dream again.I hope i could be the best student in our class, could be praised by my family when I return home,and could be approved by teachers at school.So shortly afterwards,i learned to struggle.As time goes by,i grow up little by little.I broaden my horizons.I realized there is violence ， hunger and death in the world。There are many children dying who do not enjoy life.I find that study is not for myself,or for others.i would like to be a person who is very useful for society,and try my best to help those people who are sufferring.I will work hard to achieve this dream.

Dream is like the sunrise in life.It drives away the darkness.All the trees begin to grow.All the flowers begin to bloom.The birds that represent hope begin to fly.Things shall arise.Because i have a dream.i will work hard for it.Friends,let's work together from now on!
